The Lincoln Friends of Anthony Nolan Charity are delighted to be the latest winners of the Ringrose Law Community Project Scheme ‘A Grand Idea’ and today were presented with a cheque for £1,000 to help towards vital funding for the charity.

Lincoln Friends of Anthony Nolan raise funds and awareness for Anthony Nolan, the charity who finds donors for people needing lifesaving bone marrow transplants to cure them of blood cancers (leukaemia) and other life threatening conditions.

Locally, the charity helps recruit more donors locally, holding awareness events and talks to community groups in Lincoln and surrounding areas. Statistics released this year by Anthony Nolan show that Lincolnshire has a low number of potential donors registered in comparison with other counties. It costs approximately £100 to recruit each new potential donor to the register.

Julie Cook, Head of Fundraising for Lincoln Friends of Anthony Nolan comments;

“Taking part in the Grand Idea competition has already raised the profile of our local fundraising group and we are delighted to win £1000. We will now organise our first recruitment and information event for next year and hopefully get some more potential lifesavers to sign up in Lincoln and the surrounding villages.”

A Grand Idea was launched in 2013 by Ringrose Law, who committed to give an impressive £1,000 each to six different charities/community groups across Lincolnshire and Newark every year. Other ‘A Grand Idea’ winners this year include the Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark and St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice.

Paul Cooper, Managing Partner at Ringrose Law comments;

“We were delighted that Lincoln Friends of Anthony Nolan won the Grand Idea, as this is a charity very close to our hearts at Ringrose Law. The work the charity does really can save lives and we really hope this donation to the Lincoln Friends of Anthony Nolan can make a real difference in helping people in Lincoln and the surrounding area. ”

A Grand Idea will be continuing in 2015. If any community project or charity would like to send an application go to www.ringroselaw.co.uk/agrandidea for more information.
