Criminal Defence Solicitor, Sonia Bhalla, recently represented a client at court for possession of a bladed article. It was in dangerous circumstances and police had received report that a male had brandished a knife in a local car park with others present. When police attended, they witnessed the client drop something and recovered a knife at the same spot. The charges were heavy, and given the national sentiment against knife crime, the stakes were high; the client was arrested and eventually charged.
At court, the client was looking to receive a high level community order and was potentially facing a period in custody but with Sonia’s expertise, coupled with her understanding of the complexities behind every story, ensured that a full picture was presented. After mitigation was given, the Magistrates sentenced the client to £315 fine including costs, which the client was delighted about.
