Official Sleaford Town FC Statement

“The Club has today attended an FA Cup Sub-Committee meeting relating to the abandonment of the match between ourselves and Huntingdon Town FC. It is with great disappointment to us that The FA has made the decision to remove both Clubs from this year’s competition. We will now wait to receive the official judgement from the FA before considering whether to exercise our right to appeal.

We also attended a separate hearing yesterday to answer a charge of a breach of FA Rule E20. We accepted this charge and received a fine of £150.

Whilst naturally devastated with today’s decision we would like to thank everyone who has offered their support through what has been a difficult time for Sleaford Town FC.”

Robert Breckon, Head of Litigation at Ringrose Law comments;

“It has been a pleasure to advise and work with Sleaford Town FC on this matter and receive an insight into their grass roots projects and commitment to the local community.

From a legal perspective, the decision to expel Sleaford Town FC does appear, at first blush, harsh but we shall quite sensibly await the FA’s written decision before considering matters further.”
