An advertisement by Hammershmith and Fulham Council has reportedly caused controversy with its headline article above.
The headline distracts from what is a potentially serious issue. With the introduction of the benefit cap, universal credit and general economic climate, tenants are facing in our experience additional pressures to pay every day bills including their rent. We fully expect an increase in the coming six months in rent arrears based possession claims and evictions and that is unwelcome for all involved.
Our advice to tenants facing difficulties is to get advice early, do not put your head in the sand and do face the issues head on.
Legal Aid is still available for those that face rent repossession claims and if in doubt, feel free to call one of our experienced advisors.
