Last night I attended the police station for a client who had been arrested following an allegation of domestic abuse by his wife. Police had not seen any injury, the assault occurred about a week ago, yet she only decided to report it yesterday.
I met my client, nearly 7 foot tall and very broad. Immediate reaction was okay maybe. By the time I finished listening to him it turned out he was the victim and was nothing but a big gentle giant. He was emotional throughout our discussion and found it very difficult to admit that he was being beaten by a woman, half his size. He was too ashamed to report it. His partner had been planning on getting rid of him now she had her council house. What easier way? I am happy to say no further action was taken against him.
