The proportion of Family Law cases in which both parties are represented has almost halved since Legal Aid reforms were introduced.

The growing incidents of Litigants in Person have been prolifically sensitive since much of family law was taken out of the scope of Legal Aid.

Earlier this month the Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice, Lord Dyson told a committee of MP’s it was likely miscarriages of justice have happened in cases where at least one party is unrepresented.

There are now more cases where both parties are unrepresented with that proportion standing at 28%.

Divorce cases, including financial remedy applications where both parties were represented took an average of 27 weeks to conclude.

If you feel you are unable to represent yourself or that you are suffering a miscarriage of justice contact the Family Law team at Ringrose Law on who operate a wide range of fixed fee finance packages.

It needn’t be expensive as you may think.
