An Appeal Court Judge has told the ex-Wife of a Millionaire Horse Surgeon to seek employment, warning that she has no right to expect ‘an income for life’ at her former Husband’s expense.

In a decision that may have wider ramifications for ex-partners of all spouses the Judge said divorcees with children aged over 7 should work for a living.

The Husband’s protest was that it was not fair for him to be expected to keep supporting his ex-Wife indefinitely, even after his retirement, whilst she made no effort whatsoever to seek work.

The Family Court Judge agreed and in the Court of Appeal the Judge there rejected the Wife’s challenge to the decision to cut her future maintenance and said that it is now ‘imperative that the Wife go out to work and support herself’.
