Head of the Domestic Abuse Team, Nichola Skayman, has today been distributing over 100 shoe boxes to local Women’s Aid and other domestic abuse organisations ready for the festive period.

Over Christmas, Women’s Aid support victims of domestic abuse who have left their family home, and in many cases this can include children as well. The shoe boxes will be given to the women and children over Christmas to help support them during such a difficult time.

Ringrose Law Shoe Box Challenge

All the items for the Ringrose Law shoe box challenge have been donated by members of the public, local businesses, friends and family. Over 100 shoe boxes were filled with toiletries, chocolates and treats for women and gifts, toys, chocolates and sweets for children.

Nichola Skayman, head of the Domestic Abuse Team at Ringrose Law started the initiative in November;

“I work with victims of domestic abuse every day and understand the daily struggles they go through when trying to get their lives and their children’s lives back together. The idea of the Shoe box challenge is to help them at such a difficult time and bring some happiness to them. Many items in the shoe boxes can be so basic from toothpaste to deodorant. Often when they leave home they often walk away with nothing, so they are grateful for any small luxuries.”

The Ringrose Law team has also donated treats for Christmas day with money raised from the recent Christmas Jumper Day.

“Again, things that we have donated such as chocolates, Christmas pudding and crisps are things that we all take for granted at Christmas time. To be able to give something back to the local community is a real positive for the team here.”

Ringrose Law domestic abuse team has full time support over the festive period. If you or someone you know needs legal advice or need an urgent injunction please contact our 24 hour domestic abuse legal helpline on 07739 748675.
