From zip wires in Snowdonia to diving with sharks in Skegness, Ringrose Law employee Rachael Dobson has spent the last 12 months ticking off her bucket list and raising money for charity.

Rachael is raising money for the charity ‘Meningitis Now’ after an old school friend sadly passed away when he was 16 years old from meningitis in 2003.

In memory of her school friend, Gaz, Rachael set herself a challenge of completing 16 different challenges over the last 12 months.

Rachael started this project in May last year and over the last 12 months has faced some gruelling challenges. The challenges have included mud runs, a colour run, a duathlon, abseiling off of Millers Dale Bridge, Snowdonia zip line in Wales, two half marathons, zip line off of Tyne Bridge, the Yorkshire 3 peaks, diving with sharks, a 16km swimathon and a bungee jump in Tamworth! Rachael completes her yearlong challenge this week with a Skydive in Nottingham, on the anniversary of Gaz’s death on the 23rd May.

For Rachael this has not only been an amazing journey for her but a chance to raise vital funds and awareness of meningitis.

“Losing my friend at such a young age really impacted my life and others at our school. I wanted to do something to pay tribute to such a special friend and also raise the profile of the charity ‘Meningitis Now’. I have really enjoyed the last year and completely taken myself out of my comfort zone. Who knows this could be the start of many more years of fundraising!”
