APIL members and their firms are invited to get involved and support Injury Prevention Day 2018 this week (Wednesday 15 August).
One of the association’s key objectives is to prevent needless harm. On the third Wednesday of August each year, APIL wants as many people as possible to help educate others about how to avoid injury. For previous Injury Prevention Days, APIL has campaigned for drivers not to tailgate other cars, and to highlight safety practices for walkers who encounter cows with calves.
This year, the association is calling on drivers and passengers to protect themselves against whiplash injuries by checking that their headrests are adjusted correctly. Members and their firms are encouraged to use the day to promote their own safety campaigns too.
“Your headrest can’t do its job if you haven’t adjusted it to fit you. It’s like leaving the batteries out of a smoke detector,” said APIL president Brett Dixon.
APIL will promote advice from motoring safety experts Thatcham Research about how a car headrest should be positioned effectively.
Look out for an email to members next week which will include infographics and details on how you and your firm can support the campaign on social media. In the meantime, get involved on Twitter by using the hashtags #IPDay18 and #headresttest.
