Meet Charley Cook.

Charley is a Trainee Legal Executive based at our Spalding office in our Children Law Department.

She joined the firm in July 2019 having worked in family law in the Cambridgeshire region for over 11 years.

Charley has experience representing parents in cases involving the Local Authority and private law disputes between parents and also immediate family members. Charley has successfully represented grandparents on applications for Special Guardianship Orders and continues to advise in this area of law.

She regularly undertakes her own advocacy ensuring continuity wherever possible, including representing vulnerable adults, cases involving neglect, drug and alcohol issues, domestic violence and non-accidental injuries. Charley has represented clients who require the benefit of the Official Solicitor and intermediaries.

Charley also has experience with Domestic Abuse and can assist with injunctions and Occupation Orders, both applying for and opposing.

Like the rest of the Children team, Charley is continuing to represent new and existing clients at this time.

“Clients need us more now than ever. Whether it is a parent seeking clarity on seeing their child, helping victims of domestic abuse, or general family law matters, we are here to help our clients across Lincolnshire and Newark.

We are aware that domestic abuse is continuing to rise. We want to make victims aware that support services are still available to provide support where possible. In turn we will be available to assist with necessary applications.”

Issues surrounding children in care proceedings and child protection proceedings are also still active together with contact problems between separated parents. The Court has declared that where possible all hearings will be heard remotely via telephone or video link.
