We are well aware of the backlog of hearings and trials in both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court due to Courts closing as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Court buildings have been closed and some have yet to open, meaning that only remand cases have been heard with all other cases being adjourned off to a later date.
As we start the next stage of coming out of lockdown, you may receive a court date for the coming months. We can assist and attend with you at court but prior to that can advise you in regards to funding your case whether by legal aid (no cost to you) or privately funded (fixed fees are given at the beginning of your case) .
Legal aid is subject to ‘means’ testing, and we are able to assist you in applying for this. This will usually require proof of benefits, so that we can ensure a successful legal aid application is made. This can be applied for prior to your court date so we can take instructions and advise you of the best course of actions.
Once funding is in place, our team are fully committed to ensuring the best results for their clients, whether the case will involve Magistrates Court and/or the Crown Court. The first question we will ask is whether the prosecution can prove the case against you. If there is a realistic prospect of fighting the case, then we will advise you of this, and let you decide how you wish to proceed. If you decide that you should admit the offence, we will guide you through the Court procedure and represent you in court so that you receive the sentence that best suits your circumstances
Our dedicated Criminal Defence solicitors have vast experience across all criminal law matters, including road traffic offences, theft, fraud, murder, robbery and drug cases.
