Our 24 hour domestic abuse helpline was set up to assist vulnerable people who are in need of urgent legal help and advice. The helpline covers Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and is operated 24hours a day by Nichola Skayman and the domestic abuse team.
Statistics state that over two women per week are killed by their current or ex-partner and one in four women will experience domestic abuse at some point during their relationship. Domestic Abuse can occur in many forms, and can include;
- Sexual Violence
- Verbal Abuse
- Psychological Abuse
- Physical / Domestic Violence
- Financial Control
The Domestic Abuse team has had years of experience in dealing with victims of domestic abuse. The Domestic Abuse Team are regularly liaising with the police, domestic violence officers, social workers and family support workers in cases of domestic abuse. The team also handle all private law and public law children matters.
If someone contacts our 24hour domestic abuse helpline, we ensure that arrangements are put in place to protect them, until we are able to go into Court and apply for an injunction (usually the next working day). In emergency situations we can also provide immediate protection for any children involved.
There is a perception that legal aid is no more but Legal aid is available for domestic abuse matters and we can explain this to individual depending on their circumstances.
