Divorce and Separation Lawyers

Going through a divorce or separation can be a stressful and emotional time of your life. This is regardless of whether you started divorce proceedings or your spouse started them against you.

Our family law solicitors can help you through this difficult time. From providing legal advice on the stages of divorce to supporting you through putting your settlement case together. A dedicated member of our family law team will be with you every step of the way.

If needed, our solicitors can also offer legal services in other areas as a result of the divorce. For example, rewriting WillsChildren, and Property.

Nuptial Agreements

A Pre-nuptial Agreement provides people with reassurance that their pre-marriage assets are protected. With one-third of marriages ending up in divorce having a Pre-nuptial Agreement in place is becoming more and more commonplace.

Meanwhile, a Post-nuptial Agreement is a contract drawn up during a marriage or partnership and details how a couple will split their assets in the event of a divorce, separation or death.

Our solicitors can help draw up nuptial agreements either before or after marriage.

Mediation in Family Law

Mediation in Family Law involves separating or separated couples, whether married or not, working out arrangements for themselves. This could involve family matter areas of property arrangements, financial payments or decisions on arrangements for any children.

Family mediation is delivered in a safe environment with an impartial mediator. They are there to help reduce conflict and to help you both come to joint solutions.

Going through mediation can be a quicker, less stressful way of completing a separation. Instead of letting the Courts make any decisions for you, you come to the decisions together, going through issues relating to your divorce and separation. This means no rulings will be forced upon you.

Mediation is available at all our offices or through online sessions. Typically a session will last between one to two hours. Usually, a separating couple will have two to four sessions to come to an arrangement.

Family law solicitors can help you acquire emergency protection and injunction. These are also known as Non-molestation Orders.

Legal Aid in Family Law

You can still get legal aid for some matters under family law. In most cases, this will be means-tested.

In family law, legal aid can be claimed if you are facing abuse domestically or for mediation. Legal aid can also be applied for some cases involving children.

Your family law solicitor or legal representation will be able to provide you with more information should you be able to apply for legal aid.
