I acted for a client recently at Hull Crown Court who had been facing charges of being in possession of prohibited weapons. He was a collector of replica pistols and had ordered some replicas for his collection from outside the UK which were seized by Customs.
Following an investigation he was charged with having prohibited firearms that could be used to discharge a substance or thing. I was then instructed by the client to represent him in the case. Following a lot of research and after getting help from a firearms expert, I was able to persuade the Prosecution that the firearms were not prohibited and were perfectly lawful. The client had all charges against him dismissed. The client was obviously delighted not only with being found not guilty but also relieved that his hobby was perfectly legal and he could continue with it.
