Our Tony Freitas recently represented a client in a successful application to terminate his Football Banning Order.
The original banning order had been made for 3 years against the client 2 years ago following a disturbance at a football match. The police had applied for Banning Orders against numerous supporters, one of which was our client. In that period he had complied fully with the Football Banning Order, and had not been convicted of any further football offences. As he had completed the necessary two thirds of the ban, he was able to apply to the court for the order to be terminated. Tony Freitas successfully managed to persuade the magistrates that his client did not need to be subject to the Football Banning Order any more, and it was terminated with immediate effect. The client was also granted legal aid for the hearing as a result of his financial situation.
