Tony Freitas recently acted for a young man accused of failing to notify the local council of a change of circumstances relating to his benefit payments.  He had always denied this matter, stating that he has in fact notified the council as he was required to.  At his trial, our client Mr B, explained his version of events to the court.  Tony Freitas took Mr B through his live evidence, before making a closing speech to the District Judge setting out the main points in the defence case, and why Mr B should be found not guilty.  The District Judge was quick to state that he could not be sure the prosecution had proved their case as they were required to do.  He therefore found Mr B not guilty of the offence.

Innocent until proven guilty!

Mr B was extremely grateful to Tony Freitas for representing him throughout the course of this case and especially at his trial.  He was a man of good character with no previous cautions or convictions, and if he had been found guilty of this offence, he would have lost his job and his reputation would have been incorrectly tarnished.  As a result of Tony Freitas’ trial result, Mr B left court unconvicted.
