I recently attended the Court of Appeal in London to represent a client to try and reduce the sentence he received at Lincoln Crown Court for an offence of Violent Disorder.  The client, along with many others, had been sentenced for an offence of football violence in Lincoln city centre in 2013.  Although my client had entered a guilty plea and was expecting a prison sentence, the sentence imposed, in my opinion, was excessive. I advised my client to appeal the sentence and he agreed. Having drafted all the paperwork, I was given permission to appeal to the full Court of Appeal in London.

After hearing representations from me and the other lawyers involved, the three judges of appeal agreed with us.  My client’s prison sentence was reduced by more than half.  Additionally, his football banning order was also reduced from 10 years to 7 years.  This was a great result and my client was understandably very pleased.
