Usually these solicitors are based hundreds of miles away from the policyholder and the injured party will never even meet their solicitor. Also, to keep the costs down, these panel solicitors often employ teams of young inexperienced staff, who are not legally qualified and deal with matters in a call centre environment.
What the insurance company is not telling you is that they are paid money by panel solicitors for each case and are also paid money for the panel solicitor to be appointed to the panel in the first place.
The most important thing the insurer is not telling you is that the insurance company and the panel solicitor very rarely support difficult cases to trial and quite often abandon cases once there is a denial of liability. They often under-settle cases, for far less than the claim is worth.
