Next weekend hundreds of visitors will gather to the Brayford Waterfront to watch the second annual Lincoln Dragon Boat teams battle it out to be crowned the 2017 Dragons of the water!

The 2017 Lincoln Dragon Boat Challenge will take place on Saturday 22nd July when 16 local teams will take to the water, watched by several hundred spectators. Crews will race the thirty foot brightly painted Chinese boats over a 200m course along the Brayford Pool.

The 16 local teams, including DPS Digital, APSS, Lambert Smith Hampton, Streets Accountants, Lincolnshire Highways and the Holiday Inn, will be raising money for LIVES, The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and St Barnabas Hospice in Lincoln.

The event, hosted by Ringrose Law, has become an annual event in the City’s event calendar. Last year, over £3,000 was raised for local charities and this year the organisers hope to double the amount of money raised.

Alex Bennett, organiser of the event and Marketing Manager at Ringrose Law said,

“We are delighted that so many local companies and organizations are supporting this event and through their generosity we hope to raise a significant sum for our chosen charities. We are sure that crews and spectators alike will enjoy a fantastic day with races every 10/15 minutes throughout the day and plenty of places to eat, drink and spectate along the Brayford Waterfront.”

Trophies will be presented at the end of the day to the winning crew and to the team which raises the most money for charity.
