Ringrose Law and LIVES are delighted to announce a new date for the Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival on the Brayford Waterfront for 2023.
The exciting event will be taking place on Saturday 17th June.
Last month saw the return of the event to the brayford waterfront, after a 2 year break due to COVID. The event was a hugely successful day with 20 teams competing on the brayford throughout the day, with reigning champions Belton Construction once again being crowned Dragon Boat Winners. The event raised over £17,000 for LIVES and attracted hundreds of spectators on the day.
Dragon Boat Racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and over the last few years has become the fastest growing water activity in Britain today. Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit! It’s a great day out and is a fantastic way to support a local charity.
LIVES is a vital Lincolnshire charity who attend 999 medical emergencies across the county, 365 days a year. Whether they are providing rapid first response support on their doorstep, or highly specialised medical interventions to the most seriously ill patients, they all volunteer their time- for free- to save lives and be there when someone is having their worst day. The charity provide the equipment and training for the ever increasing need.
Alex Bennett, Organiser of the Lincoln Dragon Boat Race;
“The Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival is aimed at local businesses, groups of individuals, local sports clubs or anyone who is looking for a great team building day. The event is such good fun and a spectacular to watch along the Brayford Waterfront.
We are currently recruiting teams, no prior experience is needed to be involved in Dragon Boat Racing, so please get in touch to find out more!!”
Tiffany Allen, Fundraising Manager from LIVES comments;
“We are immensely excited to be announcing the Dragon Boat Race for 2023 after the success of this years event. We need to raise £1.4 million every year to ensure our highly skilled volunteers are there when a 999 call is made, when minutes matter. The Dragon Boat Race is a great day out and will entice some healthy competition between local businesses in order to raise these vital funds to keep our Emergency Responders on the road and continue saving lives in Lincolnshire.”
