Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival Ignites Brayford Waterfront with Exhilarating Races and Spirited Crowds

The heart-pounding action of the Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival took center stage on the vibrant Brayford Waterfront this past Saturday, captivating the imagination of hundreds of spectators and unleashing the competitive spirit of 21 fiercely determined team crews. Organised by Ringrose Law and in support of the indispensable local charity, LIVES, the festival proved to be an awe-inspiring showcase of skill, camaraderie, and community spirit.

The Brayford Waterfront came alive as businesses from across the County assembled their finest teams to face off in over 20 thrilling boat races along a 200-meter racecourse. The atmosphere was electric as participants left no paddle stroke unturned in their quest for victory. After a day of intense competition, it was National Grid who emerged triumphant, conquering the challenging course in a blazing 65.19 seconds, with Brown and Co hot on their heels, finishing in an impressive 68.65 seconds.

However, the Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival was about more than just fierce competition. The event served as a powerful fundraising platform, with all proceeds set to be announced in the upcoming weeks, benefiting the remarkable efforts of local charity LIVES. Dedicated to attending 999 medical emergencies throughout Lincolnshire, 365 days a year, the volunteers of LIVES selflessly provide rapid first response support and highly specialized medical interventions to those in need. The funds raised from this exhilarating event will directly contribute to equipping and training these unsung heroes, enabling them to continue saving lives when every second counts.

Alex Bennett, the event’s organiser from Ringrose Law, couldn’t contain her excitement, stating,

“Saturday was truly spectacular. We witnessed an extraordinary turnout of enthusiastic spectators, and the participating teams had a blast. This year, we went the extra mile, offering additional stalls and activities to create a full-fledged family day out. It was heartwarming to see the Brayford waterfront brimming with local residents, cheering on the racers and taking part in the exciting riverside activities. The passion and energy displayed by the crews were nothing short of remarkable, leaving us eagerly anticipating next year’s event!”

The Lincoln Dragon Boat Festival proved to be a resounding success, uniting the community in a display of sporting prowess, philanthropy, and unwavering support for LIVES. As the event concluded with thrilling victories and memories that will last a lifetime, the organisers extend their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made this unforgettable day possible.
