We are proud to announce that we have officially become a foster care friendly firm in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) Fostering Recruitment. This new collaboration is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local families and communities in meaningful and impactful ways.
Our Head of the Children Department, Costa Kyriacou, and Solicitor, Yasmin Akhtar recently met with Emily Goodwin from NELC Fostering Recruitment to explore how we could support foster carers and children in care. The meeting was both productive and insightful, resulting in Ringrose Law becoming a foster care friendly firm—demonstrating our commitment to supporting the fostering community and promoting the crucial role of foster carers in our region.
Emily highlighted the current need for more foster carers, sharing that while there are 84 foster carers in the NELC area, there are over 600 children in care, with a need for an additional 350 carers. This stark contrast emphasises the importance of initiatives like this, encouraging more people to step forward and learn about becoming a foster carer.
During the meeting, we offered details of our services, including clinics and tailored legal support that we can provide to foster carers. We also discussed the possibility of delivering training sessions to school safeguarding leads, staff, and social work teams to enhance their understanding of fostering and related legal matters. The training will help bridge the knowledge gap for all stakeholders involved, ensuring they are fully equipped to support the needs of children in care, foster families, and the wider fostering community.
We are also thrilled to share that Ringrose Law will be sponsoring two awards at the upcoming Foster Carers and Children Awards Night, hosted by NELC. This annual event celebrates the incredible contributions made by foster carers and the remarkable achievements of children in care.
