The Hive is a prominent, modernised building located in the centre of St James Square, directly opposite the main entrance to Grimsby Minster. Below you’ll find detailed instructions for reaching us by train, bus, car (including parking), and on foot.

Using a Sat Nav with the postcode DN31 1EP will guide you directly to St James Square. Please be aware that the square itself is pedestrianised.

General Directions:

  • From the A180: Follow the signs for Grimsby Town Centre. This will typically lead you onto Cleethorpe Road and then Frederick Ward Way.
  • As you approach the town centre, look for signs for St James Square, Grimsby Minster, or Freshney Place Shopping Centre.
  • You will need to park in one of the nearby public car parks, as there is no on-site parking at The Hive.

Parking Options

There are several public pay-and-display car parks within a short walking distance of The Hive.

  • Cartergate Car Park (DN31 1RT): A large and popular option located very close to St James Square. From here, a designated footpath leads you under the road and directly into the square.
    • Walking from here: Approximately a 2-3 minute walk.
  • Abbey Walk Multi-Storey Car Park (DN31 1NB): A good option if you prefer covered parking.
    • Walking from here: Approximately a 4-5 minute walk.
  • Duchess Street Car Park (DN31 1PE): Located near the Brighowgate area.
    • Walking from here: Approximately a 4-5 minute walk.

  1. Arrive at Grimsby Town Railway Station (GMB). The station is served by TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway, with connections to major routes.
  2. The Hive is a very short walk from the train station.

Walking from the Train Station (Approx. 2-4 minutes):

  • Exit the station onto Station Approach.
  • Walk straight ahead, crossing the road towards the front of the St James Hotel.
  • Bear left, walking past the hotel onto Bethlehem Street.
  • You will see Grimsby Minster (the large church) directly in front of you across the road.
  • Cross the road safely at the pedestrian crossing towards the Minster.
  • St James Square is the pedestrianised area in front of the Minster, and The Hive is the large, refurbished office building situated in the square.

  1. Travel to Grimsby Town Centre. Most bus services stop either at the main Grimsby Riverhead Exchange bus station or at stops on nearby Bethlehem Street, right next to St James Square.
  2. Key bus stops are “St James Church Stop 1” and “St James Church Stop 2”, which are served by numerous local routes.

Walking from Riverhead Exchange / Bethlehem Street (Approx. 1-3 minutes):

  • From the bus station or any stop on Bethlehem Street, simply walk towards Grimsby Minster.
  • The Hive is the prominent business hub located in the pedestrianised St James Square, directly facing the Minster.
