About Carrie
Carrie Clewes is a Specialist Equality & Disability Rights Lawyer and Head of the Discrimination and Equality Department at Ringrose Law.
Carries areas of expertise include Disability Rights, Equality and Discrimination, Accessibility and Inclusion, Litigation and various elements of Personal Injury.
Carrie began her legal career at a National law firm in Sheffield in 2010 and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2021.
Carrie's work
Carrie has worked on a wide variety of discrimination cases including discrimination due to disability, sex, pregnancy, gender reassignment and age.
Carrie has represented clients to bring about positive change and secure compensation payments. Cases include;
- Centre Parcs – secured a company-wide policy change, retraining of staff and a substantial compensatory payment after a client was refused access to a water slide for not removing his prosthetic leg.
- Southern Rail – secured £17,000 compensation for a client who was left stranded on trains and station platforms more than thirty times after workers failed to provide wheelchair assistance.
Carrie has extensive experience and knowledge in acting on a broad range of litigation matters under the Equality Act, ensuring accessibility and inclusion.
Carrie is empathetic and constructive, she adopts a clear and methodical approach with the aim of not only obtaining compensation for her clients but also to help guide policy change, remove barriers to accessibility and prevent further acts of discrimination against others.
Carrie also has over 10 years previous experience dealing with PI caseloads in areas including Employers Liability, Public and Occupiers Liability, Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Road Traffic Accidents and Holiday Sickness.
