If you have a road traffic accident and report it to your insurance company that company will almost always ask if you have suffered a personal injury in the accident and if so they will point you in the direction of a lawyer. They may well imply that if you go to anyone other than the lawyer they suggest it is likely to cost you money, take longer and be less beneficial to you. The lawyer they suggest will almost certainly not be local.

Why are insurers so keen for you to go to the lawyer of their choosing? There are various possible reasons. It may be that they own the firm of solicitors they recommend, they may have some sort of cosy financial arrangement with or it may simply be that they are keen to control the number of independent solicitors that are in the market.

Bear in mind that these lawyers will almost certainly not be local to you and may well not be truly independent. You have to ask whether they will fight to get you the best possible deal. Wouldn’t you rather have someone local who will treat you as an individual? That’s where Ringrose Law come in. Don’t let the insurance company tell you where to go. Speak to a local Personal Injury solicitor who will be on your side.
