Lincolnshire Police have been in the national news today following the release of data showing that it is among the police forces with the lowest number of rapes recorded in the adult population. The story also reports that they are the force with the highest number of rape offences being declassified after they have been reported so that they are no longer considered to be a crime.

One possible reason for this is due to victims losing confidence with the authorities to treat them with sensitivity after they report an incident.
