No one, especially parents, makes the decision to divorce lightly. Most people think at length. If their marriages were for long periods of time they question themselves before taking the initiative. The last thing any parents wants to do is to hurt their children.
When it comes a time to break the news to the children people may want assistance to help minimise the hurt. The children need to know that divorce isn’t their fault. Parents should always present a united front.
Regardless of the reasons for the divorce say it is a decision made by both of them. Kids are more intelligent than we give them credit for.
Children may be inclined to take sides or feel the need to be supportive of the parent who is seen as sad about the marriage ending.
