Ringrose Law are pleased to announce the appointment of their Departmental Head Nichola Skayman who is now the Head of the Domestic Abuse Team.

The team supports victims of Domestic Abuse with providing legal assistance, support and help with rebuilding their life after they are victims of abuse.

Nichola, who has worked in the family department at Ringrose Law since 1999 has been helping victims of Domestic Abuse for over 17 years and has worked on some very high profile and complex cases across the County and at the High Court in London.

The statistics state that on average 2 woman per week are killed by their current or ex-partner, and 1 in 4 women will experience some form of Domestic Abuse at some point during their relationship.

Nichola has established relationships with Local Authorities across the region, and other support agencies of Domestic Abuse including Women’s Aid, locally funded outreach support teams, Children’s Links, local Police and the Local Authority. For Nichola, helping her clients is more than just providing legal advice;

We have in the past supported women, men and children who have been victims of domestic abuse. Our main role is to provide legal advice and protection for our client’s, but we also work with clients by helping with them restarting their new life and providing them with all the guidance and support that they require.

We can assist our clients by applying to the Court on their behalf for Non-Molestation Orders/ Occupation orders (injunctions/occuptaion orders) against their partners/ former partners. A Non-Molestation Order, (injunction) is an Order which can be used to protect our client and keep their family safe.”

If necessary Nichola and her team can provide immediate protection for children, and also deal with Care Cases which is another specialist area which Nichola deals with.
