National Inclusion Week is a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces. National Inclusion Week has been one of the biggest inclusion events for 11 years running.

It was originally founded by Inclusive Employers and this year the theme is Take Action, Make Impact. It is a powerful message aimed at organisations and individuals to think about what actions can be taken to create a positive impact, grow awareness, heighten inclusion within workplace culture and ensure a mix of people can attend work feeling comfortable and confident to be themselves.

To do this everyone must work together to make equal and diverse spaces everywhere, ensuring everyone in the workplace feels valued and respected as an individual. By creating awareness surrounding inclusion it is hoped that there will be greater diversity and equality, fair treatment and equal opportunities to progress. By focusing on diversity and inclusion, organisations will attract and retain a wider diversity of talent, thought processes, experiences and perspectives, all key drivers for innovation, development and engagement.

The advantages of inclusion and diversity in the workplace include a large pool of talent, a positive culture, and mutual respect throughout. Inclusion is critical in the workplace, a place where people spend the majority of their time, so it is important to ensure everyone feels safe and respected.
