On Monday, Catherine and Carrie from our Discrimination team attended an inclusivity workshop for businesses organised and run by the newly formed PROUDLincs group. The workshop was based on making businesses in Lincoln more inclusive to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Presented by Beth Warman, the workshop covered what inclusivity means and how this encompasses equality and diversity. They shared information on the benefits of being inclusive and how to adapt our language to create a more open and welcoming space. Other businesses were able to share their best practices on how they run their own inclusive business and share ideas on how to improve the city.

Carrie and Catherine were able to share the legal standpoint and how protected characteristics, including sex, gender reassignment and sexual orientation are protected by law.

Lachlan from PROUDlincs stated ‘I was so please that everyone who attended was willing to get involved. I was extremely proud of Beth and think they did an exceptional job at facilitating and I’m really looking forward to seeing this grow.

We thank ProudLincs for running such an informative and engaging session and Southside Lincoln for hosting.
