Costa has wide experience in representing parents, intervenors, grandparents, children and extended family members in a range of cases relating to children. He primarily practices in cases where Children’s Services have issued proceedings against parents seeking a removal of children to place them into foster care, with other family members or for them to be adopted.
Costa advises clients in relation to all orders pertaining to children including Care and Supervision Orders, Placement and Adoption Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Secure Accommodation Orders, Child Arrangements Orders, Family Assistance Orders and Injunctions.

Experience
Costa’s expertise is wide encompassing and he regularly represents clients in cases involving:
- Serious and life threatening injuries that are alleged to be non- accidental;
- Child fatalities;
- Complex medical issues;
- Physical, sexual and emotional abuse;
- Neglect;
- Drug and alcohol abuse;
- Concurrent criminal proceedings and investigations;
- Domestic abuse; and
- International jurisdictions and assessments.
Costa has significant experience in representing clients with physical, psychiatric, psychological and learning difficulties including parents who completely lack understanding and who require the Official Solicitor to be their Litigation Friend.
He has also worked in a number of other areas of law, which interlink with Child Social Care cases. He has been Head of Housing Law, a Law Society Accredited Police Station Representative and also has experience in mental health law and general family law. Costa was accredited by Resolution in Spring 2022.
